For 23 years, the government of Uganda and a rebel group called the Lords Resistance Army have engaged in Africa’s longest and most costly war. This war that has led to the abduction of thousands of innocent children who are forced to become child soldiers. Come join us for a screening of the newest Invisible Children documentary and learn how you can the fight for the liberty of the thousands of abducted children and improve conditions in Northern Uganda. Free food!

Interested in an alternative spring break that entails traveling to Honduras for a week to teach, live in a Honduran homestay, participate in community service projects, all while having the chance to visit the Mayan ruins of Copan? Then come learn more about Bilingual Education for Central America, where Jamie Koppel, founder of BECA, will be present to explain previous trips as well as discussing plans for this trip! Also, don’t miss our first fundraising event Wednesday, October 28, where we’ll be serving pumpkin bread and milk at the Halloween Film Festival. This trip will be organized with the help of CSIS, Columbia Students for International Service. Students who are interested in participating should contact Kimberly Wu (kw2237@barnard.edu).
